Sirius XM Radio at a conference today announced that it ended the year with nearly 21.9 million subscribers, reporting approximately 540,000 net new subscribers in the fourth quarter and approximately 1,700,000 for the full year 2011.

“Based on preliminary subscriber data, we are very pleased to announce that SiriusXM exceeded its subscriber guidance for the year.  Our subscriber growth accelerated in 2011 as net additions grew approximately 20%, delivering our best year for net additions since the merger and demonstrating the strong continuing demand for our unmatched audio content,” said Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer, SiriusXM.

The company reiterated its existing financial guidance for 2011 and 2012 and expects to announce 2012 subscriber guidance and complete 2011 results in February.

SIRIUS XM Radio today announced that it recently surpassed 20 million subscribers, a record number of subscribers in satellite radio history.

In celebration of this milestone, SIRIUS XM previously announced a special, subscriber-only broadcast of an exclusive Paul McCartney concert at the Apollo Theater in New York City on December 13, 2010.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that it added 334,727 net subscribers in the third quarter of 2010, compared to a net subscriber gain of 102,295 in the third quarter of 2009.

In the first three quarters of this year, SIRIUS XM added 1,089,417 net subscribers compared to a loss of 488,126 net subscribers in the first three quarters of 2009. The Company ended the third quarter with a record-high 19,862,175 subscribers, an increase of more than 1.3 million subscribers from September 30, 2009.

Of these amounts, in the first three quarters of this year:

• XM satellite radio added 469,165 net subscribers compared to a loss of 145,855 net subscribers in the first three quarters of 2009; and
• SIRIUS satellite radio added 620,252 net subscribers in the first three quarters of this year compared to a loss of 342,271 net subscribers in the first three quarters of 2009.

XM ended the third quarter with 10,218,265 subscribers, an increase of more than 513,000 subscribers from September 30, 2009. SIRIUS satellite radio ended the third quarter with 9,643,910 subscribers, an increase of more than 833,000 subscribers from September 30, 2009.

SIRIUS XM also announced the following additional third quarter 2010 subscriber metrics:

• Self-pay churn improved to 1.9% for the third quarter of 2010 from 2.0% for the third quarter of 2009; and
• The conversion rate from a trial subscription included in the sale of a vehicle to a self-pay subscription improved in the third quarter of 2010 to 48.1%, up from 46.2% for the third quarter of 2009.

The Company expects to end the year with approximately 20.1 million subscribers, implying net additions of approximately 1.3 million in 2010.

SIRIUS XM plans to release full third quarter 2010 financial results in November 2010.

Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer of SIRIUS XM Radio, today announced that the company expects to finish 2010 with approximately 20.1 million subscribers, an all-time subscriber high for the company. SIRIUS XM’s projection implies the company now expects net subscriber additions of approximately 1.3 million in 2010.

SIRIUS XM plans to release and discuss its full subscriber and financial results for the third quarter 2010 by early November 2010.

Some really positive news from Sirius XM has been released today. According to Sirius XM, 583,249 net subscribers were added in the second quarter of 2010, compared to a net subscriber decline of 185,999 in the second quarter of 2009.

In the first half of this year, SIRIUS XM added 754,690 net subscribers compared to a loss of 590,421 net subscribers in the first half of 2009. The Company ended the second quarter with a record-high 19,527,448 subscribers, an increase of more than 1.1 million subscribers from June 30, 2009.

SIRIUS XM also announced the following additional second quarter 2010 subscriber metrics:

* Gross additions increased by 46% and deactivations decreased by 8% compared to the second quarter of 2009;
* Self-pay churn improved to 1.8% for the second quarter of 2010 from 2.0% for the second quarter of 2009; and
* The conversion rate from a trial subscription included in the sale of a vehicle to a self-pay subscription improved in the second quarter of 2010 to 46.7%, up from 44.3% for the second quarter of 2009.

In addition, SIRIUS XM announced its third increase this year in subscriber guidance; the Company now expects net additions of approximately 1,100,000 in 2010.

“Our subscriber results mark the best quarter of gross additions, deactivations and net additions since the merger of SIRIUS and XM in July 2008. The strong execution in both adding subscribers and retaining them resulted in our record-high 19.5 million subscriber milestone, despite continued economic uncertainty,” said Mel Karmazin, the Chief Executive Officer of SIRIUS XM. “The further improvement in our guidance reflects the attractiveness of satellite radio but maintains a cautious outlook for continued improvement in the economy.”

SIRIUS XM plans to release full second quarter 2010 financial results in August 2010.

SIRIUS XM Radio today issued revised guidance on its subscribers and certain financial metrics for 2010.

The company now expects net subscriber additions for the full year to be approximately 750,000, pro forma revenue to be approximately $2.75 billion, and pro forma adjusted income from operations to be approximately $575 million. In addition, the company expects free cash flow for 2010 to exceed $100 million.

“Our continuing strong operating performance, the recovering economy, and improving auto sales support our increase in guidance today,” said Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer, SIRIUS XM.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that it added 171,441 net subscribers in the first quarter of 2010, compared to a net subscriber decline of 404,422 in the first quarter of 2009. The Company ended the first quarter with 18,944,199 subscribers, an increase of 344,765 over the year ago quarter.

In further highlighting its first quarter 2010 subscriber growth, SIRIUS XM also announced that:

• Gross additions increased by 29% and deactivations decreased by 11% compared to the first quarter of 2009.
• Self-pay churn improved to 2.0% for the first quarter of 2010 from 2.2% for the first quarter of 2009.
• The conversion rate from a trial subscription included in the sale of a vehicle to a self-pay subscription improved in the first quarter of 2010 to 45.2%, up from 44.6% for the first quarter of 2009.

“Our subscriber results represent a remarkably positive turn from the year ago quarter, reflecting the broad appeal of our unrivaled programming, the benefits of a recovering auto industry and an improving economic environment for consumers,” said Mel Karmazin, the Chief Executive Officer of SIRIUS XM. “We also expect to report solid revenue growth and strong growth in pro forma adjusted income from operations for the first quarter of 2010.”
