Sirius XM Radio, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of NASCAR, will offer listeners nationwide comprehensive coverage of the upcoming Daytona 500 and NASCAR Speedweeks.

SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, will carry live broadcasts of the Daytona 500 and every other race, all season long, plus compellingNASCAR talk and analysis live from Daytona International Speedway daily.  NASCAR programming is available to Sirius subscribers, XM Premier (formerly known as “The Best of Sirius”) and SiriusXM Premier subscribers.

On Sunday, February 26, Daytona 500 race day, SiriusXM will start broadcasting live at 7:00 am ET and will offer listeners 15 hours of live coverage from the speedway.  Subscribers will have access to all the action on the track during the 54th running of The Great American Race, which starts at 12:00 pm ET, plus full pre- and post-race coverage with expert analysis, reports from pit road and the garages, driver introductions and interviews with the race winner and other competitors.

SiriusXM will also offer additional Driver2Crew Chatter™ channels that will carry the in-car audio of NASCAR’s top drivers as they compete in the Daytona 500.  Drivers featured will include reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony StewartDanica Patrick, who will be making her NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut, five-time champion Jimmie JohnsonDale Earnhardt Jr. and others.  The “Fan’s Choice” channel will feature the in-car audio of a driver determined by fans who log on to www.siriusxm.com/nascar and vote from a selection of competitors.

NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Fran Tarkenton Launches Talk Show on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced today that Fran Tarkenton—legendary NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and business entrepreneur—will host a live, weekly, call-in talk show beginning February 20 on SiriusXM Stars Too, channel 104.

On The Fran Tarkenton Show, which will air live every Monday from 6:00 — 9:00 pm ET, Tarkenton will tackle a wide-range of topics, interview notable guests from the worlds of politics, business, sports and entertainment and take calls from listeners nationwide.

Sirius XM Radio announced today that it launched the “Whitney Houston Tribute Channel” to commemorate the life and music of Whitney Houston.

The “Whitney Houston Tribute Channel” airs now through Monday, February 13 at 11:59 pm ET on Heart & Soul, channel 48, and will honor the legendary career of Whitney Houston who passed away on February 11, 2012.

The channel, devoted exclusively to Whitney Houston, will feature songs from Houston’s six-time Grammy-Award winning career.

SiriusXM’s Heart & Soul channel and SiriusXM OutQ, channel 108, also aired special live tributes taking calls from listeners sharing personal memories, favorite songs and more. SiriusXM OutQ hosts Larry Flick and Frank DeCaro will continue the channel’s tribute to Houston’s life, music and memory on Monday, February 13.

Additionally, SiriusXM Stars, channel 107, will present various specials on Monday, February 13, including a broadcast of an archival interview between Houston and Barbara Walters from 1993 which features the two discussing marriage, motherhood and health.

SiriusXM Stars will also air special related coverage on Jane Radio hosted by Jane Pratt and TMZ Live with Harvey Levin on Monday, February 13.  The SiriusXM Stars tribute specials will begin at 9:00 am ET with the archival interview between Houston and Barbara Walters and will continue throughout the day.

Kelly Carlin to Host New Show on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced today that Kelly Carlin, daughter of George Carlin, one of the most influential comedians of all time,  will host a new monthly show on Raw Dog Comedy, channel 99, and on Carlin’s Corner, the new 24/7 channel devoted to George Carlin, channel 400.

Each month, The Kelly Carlin Show will feature Kelly interviewing a different comedian, stand-up comedy, personal stories and memories about her legendary and beloved father. The monthly show will kick off with a revealing conversation with special guest Robin Williams, during which the two will discuss Williams’ experience on The Richard Pryor Show and Mork & Mindy, what it takes to be an actor versus a stand-up comedian and Williams’ thoughts on the end of the world.

The Kelly Carlin Show will premiere on Sunday, February 12 at 7:00 pm ET and will air the first Sunday of every month on Raw Dog Comedy, channel 99. The Kelly Carlin Show will also air the first Monday of every month at 8:00 pm ET on Carlin’s Corner, channel 400.

SiriusXM Reports 2011 Results

Sirius XM Radio today announced full year 2011 financial and operating results, including revenue of $3.01 billion, up 7% over 2010 revenue of $2.82 billion, and adjusted EBITDA of $731 million, up 17% from $626 million in 2010.

“We are proud to announce that SiriusXM delivered another record-setting year in 2011, meeting or exceeding all of our guidance.  Our strong content and subscriber focus helped set a post-merger record of 1.7 million net subscriber additions, and we achieved record levels of revenue, adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow.  We expanded our adjusted EBITDA margins to 24% by tightly controlling costs and growing our revenue.  Our improved profitability, coupled with lower capital expenditures, contributed to a substantial increase in our free cash flow,” noted Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer, SiriusXM.

“In 2012, we expect to accelerate our revenue and adjusted EBITDA growth, and we project our free cash flow will jump by approximately 70% to$700 million.  Our subscriber base will once again end this year at another all-time record high,” said Karmazin.  ”We continue to invest in improving the subscriber experience, all with the goal of keeping our subscribers engaged and entertained.  All of us here at SiriusXM look forward to another fantastic year of subscriber growth and improved financial performance.”

Additional highlights from 2011 include:

  • Subscriber growth continues. Gross additions climbed 12% to an all-time high of 8.7 million, net subscriber additions improved by 20% to 1.7 million from 1.4 million in 2010, and the subscriber base rose to an all-time high of 21.9 million subscribers at year-end.  Self-pay net additions were 1.2 million in 2011, up 24% from 1.0 million in 2010.
  • Stable churn. Self-pay churn was 1.9% in 2011, in-line with 2010′s results.  New vehicle consumer conversion rate was 45% in 2011 compared to 46% in 2010.
  • Strong cost controls. Total cash operating expenses rose 3.7%, while fixed expenses declined by 1.9%.
  • SAC per gross addition declined. Subscriber acquisition costs (SAC) per gross addition improved by 7% to $55 in 2011 from $59 in 2010.
  • Free cash flow grew. Free cash flow climbed to $416 million, up 98% from the $210 million generated in 2010 due to higher operating cash flow and lower capital expenditures.

GAAP net income for 2011 and 2010 was $427 million and $43 million, respectively, or $0.07 and $0.01 per diluted share, respectively.

“We ended the year with $774 million of cash, even after reducing our long-term debt by over $200 million in 2011.  Our leverage at year-end improved to 4.1x our adjusted EBITDA on a gross basis and 3.1x on a net basis,” said David Frear, SiriusXM’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  ”With no debt maturities due this year and our growing free cash flow, we expect to end 2012 with nearly $1.5 billion of cash.”

FOURTH QUARTER 2011 HIGHLIGHTS

Fourth quarter 2011 revenue of $784 million was up 7% from the $736 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, while adjusted EBITDA was $167 millionin the fourth quarter of 2011, up 16% from the $144 million in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Highlights from the fourth quarter include:

  • Net subscriber additions climb. Net subscriber additions were 542,966, up 65% compared to the fourth quarter of 2010.  Net self-pay subscriber additions were 374,432, an increase of 7% versus the fourth quarter of 2010.
  • SAC per gross addition improves. Subscriber acquisition cost (SAC) per gross subscriber addition was $55 in the fourth quarter of 2011, a 5% improvement from the $58 reported in the fourth quarter of 2010.
  • Churn remained stable. Average self-pay monthly customer churn was 1.9% in the fourth quarter of 2011, in-line with the 1.9% reported in the fourth quarter of 2010.  New vehicle consumer conversion rate was 44% in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to 45% in the fourth quarter of 2010.
  • Free cash flow rises. Free cash flow in the fourth quarter of 2011 was $192 million, an increase of 15% compared to $167 million in the fourth quarter of 2010.

GAAP net income (loss) for the fourth quarter of 2011 and 2010 was $71 million and ($81) million, respectively, or $0.01 and ($0.02) per diluted share, respectively.

The discussion of adjusted EBITDA excludes the effects of stock-based compensation and certain purchase price accounting adjustments. A reconciliation of non-GAAP items to their nearest GAAP equivalent is contained in the financial supplements included with this release.

2012 GUIDANCE

The Company expects its subscriber base to grow by approximately 1.3 million net subscribers and end the year at approximately 23.2 million.  The company now expects adjusted EBITDA in 2012 of approximately $875 million, an increase from prior guidance of $860 million.  The Company reiterates its existing 2012 revenue and free cash flow guidance:

  • Revenue of approximately $3.3 billion, and
  • Free cash flow of approximately $700 million.

“With auto sales expected to rise in 2012, and what appears to be only a modest increase in churn associated with our January price increase, we expect to grow our net new subscribers by roughly 1.3 million in 2012, continuing our strong multi-year track record of subscriber growth,” said Karmazin.

Sirius XM Radio announced today that Ozzy’s Boneyard, the new classic hard rock and metal music channel will launch with a full slate of content featuring Ozzy Osbourne, his family members, bandmates and other musicians onWednesday, February 8 at 6:00 pm ET.

Hard rock and heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne will, for the first time, discuss the recent news of Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi’s lymphoma diagnosis during a one on one conversation with SiriusXM host Jose Mangin on Wednesday, February 8 at 7:00 pm ET on Ozzy’s Boneyard, channel 38.

Ozzy’s Boneyard will also present Ozzy himself counting down his personal top 10 rock guitarists of all time.

Ziggy Marley to Host New Show on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced today that five-time Grammy-winning musician, actor, artist, activist and humanitarian Ziggy Marley will host a new monthly show, Ziggy Marley’s Legends of Reggae.

The monthly show will launch on Sunday, February 5, the eve of the birthday of his late father, Bob Marley, at 12:00 pm ET on The Joint, channel 42. This first episode features Ziggy speaking in depth with reggae legend Jimmy Cliff.

Ziggy Marley’s Legends of Reggae will feature Marley sharing his unique perspective on music and culture and introducing listeners to his favorite reggae music and sources of inspiration (with some rarities), plucked from his own personal collection. The show will also include music from the Marley family, including material from Ziggy’s most recent solo studio album, Wild and Free, and throwback selections dating back to his days as a Melody Maker. In addition to Jimmy Cliff, Ziggy Marley’s Legends of Reggae will feature other special guests on the monthly show.

Sirius XM Radio announced today that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at Harlem’s world famous Apollo Theater for the first time at a special concert event, only for SiriusXM, to celebrate 10 years of satellite radio.

The concert will be held on Friday, March 9 at 8:00 pm ET, three days after the release of Springsteen’s new album Wrecking Ball. The concert will air live nationwide on Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Radio, channel 20.

Starting Monday, January 30, SiriusXM NFL Radio will broadcast live every day from the NFL’s Radio Row in Indianapolis, offering listeners the latest news and expert analysis leading up to the biggest game of the year, plus dozens of interviews with players, coaches, league executives and celebrities in town for the event.  Available on channel 88 on Sirius and XM Premier, SiriusXM NFL Radio features a lineup of expert hosts that includes Gil Brandt, Derrick Brooks, Rich Gannon, Pat Kirwan, Jim Miller, Bob Papa, Tim Ryan, Solomon Wilcots, Adam Schein and others.

SiriusXM NFL Radio will broadcast live from Media Day at Lucas Oil Stadium on Tuesday, January 31, offering one-on-one interviews with players and coaches from the Patriots and Giants.  On Saturday, February 4 at 5:00 pm ET, SiriusXM NFL Radio will provide live coverage as the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2012 is announced, plus interviews with the newly elected Hall of Famers.  The channel will also have live coverage from Lucas Oil Stadium after the game on Sunday, featuring interviews with the Super Bowl XLVI MVP, the winning head coach and other players.

Rosie O’Donnell will host a special edition of SiriusXM’s Rosie Radio, featuring celebrity guests, live from Radio Row in Indianapolis on Friday from12:00 to 2:00 pm ET on SiriusXM Stars (channel 107).

SiriusXM’s Christopher ‘Mad Dog’ Russo will be in Indianapolis all week to host his daily show, Mad Dog Unleashed, live from Radio Row from2:00 to 7:00 pm ET.  The show is the anchor program for SiriusXM’s all-sports talk channel, Mad Dog Radio (channel 86).

Mad Dog Radio’s Dino Costa will host The Dino Costa Show live from 7:00 to 11:00pm ET from multiple locations around Indianapolis throughout the week including Radio Row (Mon.), Nicky Blaine’s Cocktail Lounge (Tue.), the NFL Experience (Wed.), Buffalo Wild Wings (Thurs.), and the High Velocity Bar at the JW Marriott (Fri.).  Costa will also host live from Radio Row on Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm ET.

Evan Cohen, of Mad Dog Radio’s Evan & Phillips in the Morning, will host the show from Radio Row on Thursday and Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 am ET.

Comedian Larry the Cable Guy will be featured on a Blue Collar Radio special airing live from Radio Row on Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET(channel 97).

Sway Calloway will host Sway in the Morning, his live weekday show on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel, live from Radio Row on Thursday and Friday at 8:00 am ET (channel 45).

On Thursday, Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew will be on Radio Row to host his SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio show, Runnin’ with MJD, live from 4:00 to 6:00 pm ET (channel 87 on XM and channel 210 on Sirius Premier).

Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton will host a special broadcast from Radio Row on Friday at 3:00 pm ET.  The show will air on SiriusXM Stars Too (channel 104) on Friday at 10:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm and Sunday at 8:00 am ET.

SiriusXM’s Covino & Rich, hosted by Steve Covino and Rich Davis on SiriusXM Stars Too (channel 104, weekdays at 11:00 am ET), will broadcast from spots around Indianapolis, including the Maxim Party and Radio Row.

SiriusXM Debuts “The Badge with Howard Safir”

Sirius XM Radio today announced the launch of The Badge with Howard Safir, a provocative, six-week series hosted by the former Police Commissioner of New York City on which he will offer his insight on the drama, heroism and challenges faced by law enforcement officials today. In addition, subscribers will have the opportunity to call in to The Badge and ask everything they ever wanted to know about police officers, criminals and what it takes to keep society safe.

The Badge with Howard Safir will launch on Sunday, January 29 at 11:00 am ET on SiriusXM Stars (channel 107) with special guest former MayorRudolph Giuliani.  Safir served as Police Commissioner during Giuliani’s administration for four years and has worked with Giuliani for over four decades on national and international law enforcement matters.
