New Year’s Eve Concerts to Air Live on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced today that it will ring in the new year with an extensive lineup of live concerts, special performances, DJ sets, a New Year’s Eve music channel and various year-end countdowns hosted by some of the year’s biggest artists.

SiriusXM listeners will hear live concert broadcasts from all over the country featuring a wide-ranging lineup of musicians, including Furthur (featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead) at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA (Grateful Dead Channel, channel 23); Willie Nelson from the Moody Theater in Austin, TX (Willie’s Roadhouse, channel 56); Southside Johnny at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ (E Street Radio, channel 20); Patti Smith at Bowery Ballroom in New York City, NY (The Loft, channel 30); Cheap Trick’s concert at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, FL (Classic Rewind, channel 25); Widespread Panic at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC (Jam_On, channel 29); and Little Feat’s concert at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD (Radio Margaritaville, channel 24).

SiriusXM will present live DJ sets by internationally-renowned DJs live from across the country. Listeners will hear Paul Oakenfold spin from Rain in Las Vegas (Electric Area, channel 52); Avicii from Pier 94 in New York, NY (BPM, channel 51); and Laidback Luke from Pacha in New York, NY(Electric Area, channel 52).

SiriusXM will also broadcast special New Year’s Eve programming, including shows hosted by 2011′s biggest artists. Justin Bieber , T Pain andAvril Lavigne will each count down their 15 favorite songs of 2011 on SiriusXM Hits 1, channel 2. On The Heat, channel 47, Mary J. Blige will play her favorite male R&B singers of the year and Trey Songz will count down his favorite female R&B singers of 2011. Robin Thicke will guest host a special year end countdown of Heart & Soul’s performances from 2011 on Heart & Soul, channel 48, and electronic dance music icon Armin van Buuren will host a countdown of his top electronic dance music songs of the year on Electric Area, channel 52.

Real Jazz, channel 67, presents NPR’s annual “Toast of the Nation” featuring coast to coast live jazz performances from Wynton Marsalis,Dianne Reeves and Terence Blanchard.

SiriusXM listeners will hear special in-studio performances and concert broadcasts by artists including Naughty By Nature on Backspin, channel 46, The Little Willies (with Norah Jones) on Outlaw Country, channel 60, as well as Daughtry, O.A.R., Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump and Christina Perri from Napa, CA on The Pulse, channel 10.

SiriusXM’s Raw Dog Comedy, channel 99, will present an evening of non-stop comedy performances by comedians like George Carlin, Doug Stanhope, Christopher Titus, Jim Breuer, Jim Florentine, Jeff Garcia and Bob Marley.

New Year’s Nation, channel 3, will feature the biggest, upbeat party hits from genres across SiriusXM’s music platform. The channel will launch onSaturday, December 31 at 3:00 pm ET.

Ian Schrager Takes Listeners Behind the Scenes and Even Into the Basement of Studio 54 on SiriusXM Radio

Sirius XM Radio announced today that, for the first time ever, Ian Schrager will share a behind the scenes look at the legendary club Studio 54, on Studio 54 Radio, channel 15.

The exclusive, revealing two-part interview special, “Schrager on Studio,” will feature the visionary Studio 54 co-founder and international hotelier sitting down with fashion icon Norma Kamali to share the inside story of the legendary and iconic nightclub.

“Ian Schrager unquestionably has had his finger on the pulse of pop culture for decades. SiriusXM launched Studio 54 Radio, a 24/7 commercial-free channel devoted to the best classic dance and disco, as a tribute to the music often played in the legendary club created by Rubell and Schrager. The channel, launched in August, features music that comes from the vaults and special record collections of insiders, much of which has never been heard since the club permanently closed its doors. Studio 54 Radio also includes The Marc and Myra Show, the weekly interview series featuring Studio 54 insiders sharing many never before told personal stories and anecdotes about the renowned club.

On October 18, SiriusXM, along with members of the original Studio 54 team, reopened Studio 54, at its original location, for “One Night Only.”

Regis Philbin Returns as Special Guest Host of “Bing Crosby Christmas Radio” Channel on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced that legendary entertainer Regis Philbin will return as the special guest host of “Bing Crosby Christmas Radio,” a limited-run holiday channel devoted to classic Bing Crosby radio broadcasts from 1944 -1962 from Crosby’s personal vault, brimming with comedy skits and musical performances from celebrity guests, and also featuring a rare recording of Crosby reciting the iconic poem “The Night Before Christmas.”

“Bing Crosby Christmas Radio” will air from December 19 through December 26 at 3:00 am ET on SiriusXM channel 146, online on SiriusXM Internet Radio channel 814 and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App on smartphones and mobile devices on Limited Engagements 4.

Bing’s wife Kathryn Crosby, daughter Mary Crosby and sons Harry and Nathaniel share memories, introduce songs and shows and reflect on Crosby’s life and work on “Bing Crosby Christmas Radio.”

Sirius XM Radio announced today that it will broadcast SNL on STERN, a five-part original series hosted by Howard Stern that offers an uncensored, backstage history of Saturday Night Live as told by the show’s cast, guest hosts and writers from three decades of memorable appearances on The Howard Stern Show.

SiriusXM to Air Every Bowl Game This College Football Postseason

Sirius XM Radio announced today that it will offer listeners, for the first time, live play-by-play of every bowl game during the 2011-12 college football postseason.

Sirius and XM listeners will get access to 35 games, more than any season before, including the BCS National Championship, the Rose Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Discover Orange Bowl, and Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The schedule will begin with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, December 17 (2:00 pm ET, on ESPN Radio, SiriusXM channel 84) and continue through Monday January 9, when #1 ranked LSU faces #2 Alabama in the Allstate BCS National Championship Game (8:30 pm ET on ESPN Radio, SiriusXM channel 84). Tiesto to Launch Tiesto’s Club Life Radio Channel Exclusively on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio announced today that it will launch Tiesto’s Club Life Radio, the 24/7 commercial-free music channel featuring music curated by electronic dance music superstar DJ Tiesto.

The exclusive channel, created by Tiesto, will feature a variety of electronic dance music including progressive house, electro, trance and downtempo hand selected by the world-renowned DJ and producer. Other superstar and up and coming DJs are also expected to appear on the channel.

Each week, Tiesto’s Club Life Radio will air a countdown of Tiesto’s current favorite songs during the weekly special “Tiesto’s Top Ten,” as well as new and classic editions of Tiesto’s “Club Life” radio show, which currently airs on SiriusXM’s Electric Area, channel 52, on Saturdays at 10:00 pm ET.

Sirius XM Radio announced today that rock radio pioneer Jim Ladd will host a daily free-form music show on Deep Tracks, channel 27.

For the first time ever, Ladd’s daily show will be broadcast to a national audience and will be heard exclusively on SiriusXM. The live show will air nightly starting in January 2012.

Ladd will continue to personally select all the music heard on his show, as he has done from the start of his legendary career on FM radio. SiriusXM Presents Live Town Hall Event with Coach K on Dec. 14

Sirius XM Radio announced today that Duke University men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski — who became the all-time winningest coach in Division I men’s basketball history this month — will sit down for a Q&A session with an audience of SiriusXM listeners, Duke fans and other invited guests at storied Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC .

“SiriusXM’s Town Hall with Coach K,” a two-hour broadcast event, will air live nationwide on Mad Dog Radio, channel 86, on Wednesday, December 14 (7:00-9:00 pm ET). The special will be moderated by SiriusXM’s Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, who will interview Coach K before opening it up to questions from SiriusXM subscribers in the audience.

The event is part of SiriusXM’s “Town Hall” series, an intimate gathering with an iconic figure and an audience of SiriusXM listeners. Previous “SiriusXM Town Hall” specials have featured Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Coldplay.

Pearl Jam’s Final Concert from “Pearl Jam Twenty Tour” in Mexico City to Air on SiriusXM’s Pearl Jam Radio

Sirius XM Radio announced today that its Pearl Jam Radio, the commercial-free music channel devoted to the music of Pearl Jam, will broadcast the band’s final show from the “Pearl Jam Twenty Tour” recorded live in Mexico City.

The concert will air on Friday, November 25 at 2:00 pm ET on Pearl Jam Radio, channel 22, and will include on-site interviews hosted by Pearl Jam Radio host The Rob.

Before the concert broadcast, at 12:00 pm ET, Pearl Jam Radio will air an in-depth conversation with director Cameron Crowe about his new documentary Pearl Jam Twenty, during which he will talk about the creation of the film’s soundtrack and his thoughts on the band’s influence and legacy.

2011 is a yearlong celebration of Pearl Jam’s twenty-year history. The band started off the year with the release of a new live compilation album, Live on Ten Legs, followed by the expanded reissues of Vs. and Vitalogy in March. Things kicked into high gear in September with theAlpine Valley Labor Day anniversary weekend concert, followed by the release of Cameron Crowe’s film, Pearl Jam Twenty, with accompanying book and soundtrack album. The celebration continued with tours in Canada, South and Central America and Mexico, as well as the release of Pearl Jam Twenty on DVD.
